N.E.-6 and all one sided on the home club. How do I know this from fla., well let's just say I have some degenerate connections. This line has not shifted upwards esp. local as it should have. Take this news for what's it's worth!

Sammy, Interesting info, but I'm not quite sure what it means. It seems they are laying off action, but why 6. Seems pretty strange on its face. I guess they would have to be laying off the way the Pats have been crushing the spread. No conspiracy theories from me, just another unsolved mystery in this Biz.

Just a guess...Thats what i would do...Lot of got put out of buis. 2 years ago.
People around here would play the Pats at -20.

How exactly would they be making money doing this?

it means they want the Patriots action. If they wanted Carolina bettors they'd move the line. Or maybe there isn't any Carolina action in the area so they have to have a competetive line?

A competitive line would be -6.5, not -6. I just do not get the rationale behind the 6, unless they are damm sure the Panthers are going to cover.

The best part about being a local book is setting a line that falls in with Vegas and usually watching the lambs come to slaughter. The vast majority of the time a local shades his line with the local team, not against, especially in big games. Most everyone loves to be a homer in a big games.

When locals start shading their lines against a local team they are taking on the risk of gambling. Not something a book should generally do. All of the sudden their thoughts and emotions are added into the equation, usually something the book does not have to worry about.

Anyway think the -6 in the New England area is a very interesting number.

I'm from Boston and two of my locals had it at 7 1/2 on Thurs. Don't know what Sammy is talking about.

Now -7.5 in Boston makes a lot of sense to me. Make the homers pay.

seems a little odd that bookies in n.e would be dealing the pats at -6 considering their home team is in the superbowl and i haven't seen a 6 all weak long anywhere.

they will get action on pats so why would they deal such a line? Locals here in the NorthEast are dealing pats-7......there are alot of car backers here for some reason....i guess the last couple of weeks of being a dog has attracted some attention.....

I have talked to many of the local bookies in Boston area all are -7 and -7.5. Most of the Union construction workers are pounding the PATS.

I agree w/everyone here; locally the line in N.E. should be 7.5 or even 8 and still get pounded by the homers. Well the N.E. area is a big area and must be the "boys" I'm writing about are either:
a) gambling themselves
b) going to stiff everyone, and run for the hills
c) laying it off shore or even elsewhere locally, going for the "big" score.
d) money laudering drug money
e) know something about the game that we don't.

Anyways have not made a wager on this game and not going too. Both sides have many reasons to take. Wish I knew somebody on bourbon street last night.
